David here. 👋 There’s a reason that the boiled peanut is the official State Snack Food of South Carolina. In 2020 the state produced 82,000 pounds of peanuts grown in the Midlands, Pee Dee, and Lowcountry regions. This weekend the 15th annual Palmetto Peanut Boil will return to the 2900 block of Devine Street with local cooks vying for the boiled peanut championship trophy.

Plus, the event is hosted by Animal Mission and 100% of all proceeds benefit Columbia Animal Services and the Mission’s spay and neuter program.

The River Walk is a great place to start your trip, rain or shine. | Photo by 6AM City
If riverside promenades, Italianate architecture + a thriving arts community appeal to you, planning a spring visit to Providence, RI might be just the ticket.

    Why go?
    • GQ named Providence the coolest city you haven’t been to in 2015 — calling on its celebrated food scene + high-style Dean Hotel as contributing factors. Plus, aside from the plentiful street art you’ll find around downtown, RISD Museum has six levels of art pieces to peruse.
    • What’s even better than the repurposed atmosphere of Maria’s Cucina’s old Italo-American home? The Gnocchi Toscana ($28).
    • The Wedding Cake House was built in 1867 + recently restored by art collective The Dirt Palace. (~$70/night)

    Outdoors
    • Notice an uptick in any of these feathered friends in your backyard lately? Keep them safe from colliding with your windows — a cause of death for millions of birds each year — by throwing up some decals like these. We love these leaf designs too to keep things festive for fall.*
