The latest renderings of Savage Craft Ale Works, the brewery + beer garden coming to West Columbia, were released by Studio 2LR this week.

The brewery was initially set to open in Summer 2019, but infrastructure issues + negotiations caused delays to their renovation process. Recently, they stated they’re now on track to open in May of 2020

Here are a few fast facts to catch you up on the addition to West Cola, along with some photos to get you excited.

  • The brewery will consist of preserving several historic structures, including the former West Columbia City Hall + Fire Station building (originally constructed in 1925) + an old jail (constructed in 1906).
  • A 3,000 sq.ft. taproom will be housed on the first floor of the former fire station.
  • There will be private dining + meeting space on the second floor, where City Hall used to be.

  • A new, 5,000 sq.ft building is being added to the back of the property, which will house a microbrewery + a rooftop terrace.
  • There will also be a beer garden, fire pit + a stage for live music on the grounds next to the brewery.

Our favorite part? The fact that the brewery is in the River District (430 Center St., W. Columbia) – meaning all of this will be walking distance to some of our WeCo favorites, like Terra, Cafe Strudel, New Brookland Tavern, Black Rooster, the Riverwalk + more.
