Here are 20concerts coming to town + the dates for some upcoming music festivals in our region to add to your calendars for spring 2023.

Gamecocks men’s basketball vs. Mississippi State Bulldogs | Tuesday, Jan. 31 | 6:30 p.m. | Colonial Life Arena, 801 Lincoln St., Columbia | $12-$55 | The Gamecocks look to bounce back after an overtime loss on the road against Georgia.
USC School of Music Takeover: Singer/Songwriter Night | Tuesday, Jan. 31 | 7:30-10:30 p.m. | The Venue, 1626 Main St., Columbia | $10 | All the ticket sales will go directly to the USC School of Music to help fund programs and scholarships.

Tacos Nayarit Mexican Grillannounced it would open a new location in Cayce near the corner of Knox Abbott and 12th Street in the former South Carolina Bank and Trust building. Hopes are for the new spot to be open in the spring or summer of this year. 🌮

$372,860.That’s how much the Lexington County Recreation Commission was awarded through thefederal Land and Water Conservation Fund (LWCF) to build pickleball courts at Wilkinson Park in Cayce.Funding for the project includes the construction of 16 fenced and lighted courts and a restroom building. 🥒

The Gamecocks women’s basketball team recorded their 27th straight victory dating back to last season after beating Alabama on the road on Sunday. The team could tie the all-time record this week with wins over Kentucky on Thursday and at No. 5 UConn on Sunday at 12 p.m.🏀 (The State)
Pets
Pre-registration is open for the new Bark West dog park at 1940 Augusta Rd. in West Columbia. The members-only park will open daily from sunrise to sunset for large and small dogs. Annual fees start at $25 per dog. 🐕

COLAlove — a new collective building community in the Midlands — is hosting a pop-up dinner with Dorsia Pasta Company Feb. 14-16 at 2001 Greene St., behind Mr. Friendly’s. Secure a reservation for a five-course dinner with wine pairings. 🍝
Edu
Applications open tomorrow for the South Carolina State Fair’s annual Ride of Your Life Scholarship. The $6,000 scholarship is awarded to 50 high school seniors around the state and must be used at a South Carolina college or university. The winners will be announced in mid-May. (Cola Daily)

13th Annual Mardi Gras Columbia Festival | Saturday, Feb. 18 | 6:30 p.m. | City Roots Farm, 1005 Airport Blvd, Columbia | $5 | This year’s festival features 13 bands on three stages and includes popular local acts like The Runout, The Plowboys, and Whiskey Tango Review.
St. Pat’s in Five Points Columbia | Saturday, Mar. 18 | 7:30 a.m.-7 p.m. | Five Points on Saluda Avenue, 747 Saluda Ave., Columbia | $25 | The 41st annual St. Pat’s festival in Five Points features ~20 music acts and is headlined by Moon Taxi, Nate Smith, Hippo Campus, and Drivin N Cryin.
Editor’s pick: We went to Riverbanks Zoo to see the new Boyd Foundation Aquarium and Reptile Center on Friday, and we’re excited to share some preview photos, but we just couldn’t hold on tothis adorable video of the baby meerkat. Don’t forget, Lexington and Richland County residents get into the zoo for free (parking included) on Fridays through February.
