Every time you play the SC Education Lottery, you help fund scholarships for Palmetto State students like Sam Haile, Rhett Bissell, and Jessie Eichman.
All three of these college grads received the lottery-funded, merit-based LIFE scholarship and went on to work in the natural resources field. Read: They’re improving SC’s environment.
West Columbia Riverwalk will open in its entirety soon. Work will begin on Monday, July 14 — starting with the section between the amphitheater and Cayce, followed by the portion between the Gervais Street Bridge to the end of the trail. Each section is expected to take about a month to complete. (Post and Courier)

We have some unbe-leaf-able news. The Okra Strut will return to Irmo this year. Last year’s event was canceled due to Hurricane Helene — but it’ll be back to celebrate its 50th year on Friday, September 26. (Cola Daily)

No Name Deli is on the move. After four decades of service at its current downtown location, the spot will move to 1301 Laurel St. next year. The owner promises the same menu, same staff, same old-school feel — but with more parking. (Post and Courier)

What do you think about an extra lane in each direction on I-26? SCDOT will host an information meeting on Thursday, July 17 from 5 to 7 p.m. at the New Vision Centre in Orangeburg. You can also weigh in online.
