The Columbia Museum of Art’s new exhibition “Reverent Ornament: Art from the Islamic World” opened on February 18, and we were thrilled to get to check it out. This collection offers 45 works that explore centuries-old arts and crafts traditions and scientific innovations from Iran, Egypt, India, Syria, and Turkey, featuring objects that could be found anywhere from ordinary homes to palaces. We were transported, and we highly recommend experiencing it for yourself.
A multi-housing development and parking garage could be coming to the corner of Huger and Gervais streets in the former Kline Steel location. Richland County Council will vote to approve tax credits in exchange for the $90 million investment. A previous apartment proposal for the site did not come to fruition. 🏗 (The Post and Courier)

After recently opening a location in Five Points, Cocobowlz is set to open a second Midlands location this spring in Irmo. The new spot will be in the shopping center near the Walmart at 1100 Dutch Fork Rd., serving açaí and other fun flavored bases. 🫐

The South Carolina State Fair announced a 67 percent increase in awards for its annual Ride of Your Life Scholarship. The first increase in over a decade will now award students $10,000 over four years. The application deadline is March 15, and 50 students from across the state will be chosen. 🎓

With the NCAA Men’s and Women’s Basketball Tournaments just around the corner, we’re joining the fun of bracket competitions with a face-offof our own. Not a sports fan? No worries. Our bracket will focus on a hot topic among locals. Last year, y’all helped us name the best brewery: Savage Craft Ale Works. Now, we need your help to decide Cola’s best festival or annual event.
