In honor of Peach Week, we’re sharing local farmers markets where you can support Midlands growers + buy the juiciest peaches.

Opening

Steve’s Classic Burgers will reopen this Saturday, July 19, from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. at the Ashland Park shopping center on St. Andrews Road. The event will showcase the refreshed space and updated menu.

USC’s Arnold School of Public Health is looking for African American adults living in rural SC — along with their care partners — to join a study on aging at home with early-stage Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias. Participants will receive a $100 gift card and can contact Dr. Shaun Owens.

Environment

Cleanup has begun on Lake Wateree to fight an infestation of Lyngbya, a toxic algae that forms thick mats that clog boat motors and threaten aquatic ecosystems. The Lake Wateree Association is coordinating treatments across 37 acres. (The Post and Courier)
