🥾 Going coastal

Palmetto Trail-9950.jpg

Lace up your boots and pack your bathing suit — you can now hike from the Capital City to the coast. The Palmetto Trail just completed 26 new miles linking Columbia to Awendaw and the Intracoastal Waterway. For the first time, the Palmetto State has a continuous cross-state trail.

That brings the project to 380 miles complete, with only 120 left to go. It’s a big moment for one of the Southeast’s most ambitious network of trails. Ready to explore it? Our Midlands hiking guide, along with Greenville and Charleston’s, will help you find your starting point.
