Does anyone remember when we used to put PODs (post-of-the-day) in our newsletters? Original subscribers and readers will know. Well, today we’re bringing it back so we can showcase a historic and rare solar event that was due to a powerful geomagnetic storm.

The aurora borealis showcased green, purple, and pink flares that lit up the night sky across parts of the nation. If you missed the light show over the weekend, no worries. We’re showcasing Mitch West’s photo, taken in Lexington on the Lake Murray dam.

His caption reads: “Never in my wildest dreams would I thought I’d experience something like this in Central SC. Currently still at the Lake Murray dam.

    I’m stunned…"
