Halloween fun for the kids

Prisma Health opens its new Northeast Medical Park in Richland County on Monday, Nov. 3, offering orthopedic walk-ins, outpatient surgery, and more than 70 new jobs. The goal? Shorter wait times + care closer to home as the Midlands population grows. (WLTX)

Opening

Venture X Downtown Columbia opens Monday, Nov. 10, offering 85 private offices, meeting rooms, and hotel-style amenities at its Main Street coworking hub. Located on the top floor of 1901 Main St., the space offers skyline views and global access to 74 locations.

Closed

TakoSushi has closed its Forest Acres location. Visit the Latin-Asian fusion restaurants in the Midlands locations that remain open in downtown Columbia + Lexington. (The State)

Follow the yellow brick road to A Night in the Emerald City — the Ronald McDonald House Gala on Friday, Nov. 14. Expect glitz and community spirit, with proceeds supporting Ronald McDonald House, which helps house families with kids receiving medical care.

History

Lake Murray’s Dreher Shoals Dam has been named a National Historic Civil Engineering Landmark by the American Society of Civil Engineers. Built in 1930, it was once the world’s largest earthen dam and power reservoir.

“Ambitions,” an indie film by Midlands native Victoria Glover, premieres Friday, Nov. 22 at Midlands Technical College’s Airport Campus. Set in Columbia, it showcases Scratch N’ Spin, Richland Library Main + Space803 while telling a story of loyalty and hip-hop dreams. (Free Times)
