A book checked out in 1967 just made its way back to Richland Library — 59 years later.
A copy of “Gone With the Wind,” originally due in September of that year, was recently returned to the Cooper branch with a note from the customer. Thanks to the library’s fine-free policy, there were no penalties — just a long-overdue return and a good story to go with it.
That got us thinking: what was happening on this day 59 years ago?
