How to get involved with local nonprofits

We asked, and you answered, Columbians. Last week, we encouraged folks who work for (or with) local nonprofits to share vacant board positions with us so we could encourage citizens to consider joining local nonprofits and make an impact in their community.
Below are a few reader submissions:
“Friends of Gaston SC Library is a new organization in dire need of a vice president, treasurer, secretary, and social media and advertising officer. We are just starting the organization and need help getting it up off the ground. Please contact President Danielle Oberski if interested in getting involved (305) 546-9289.”
“Suzuki Academy of Columbia — we have one to two open board seats! We are a nonprofit music school that believes music is world-changing and strengthens community.”
“Turning Pages SC currently has three board positions open. Turning Pages SC is an adult reading program in Central South Carolina. Our free reading programs and tutoring services are available at over 24 public partner locations in Richland, Lexington, and Aiken County. Apply on our website.”
One of my absolute favorite hobbies is going antique, thrift, and vintage clothing shopping. My latest find is a vintage, long-sleeved Philadelphia Flyers shirt that I found at Old Skool outfitters. Take a peek inside the vintage clothing store on our Instagram. Pro tip: I also love looking for vintage Carolina gear here.
