All Good Books | 734 Harden St. | All Good Books, Cola’s new independent bookstore, is celebrating its grand opening with a ribbon-cutting ceremony today at 12 p.m.
Pannerpete | 738 Harden St. | Pannerpete — a vintage clothing retailer — is hosting the grand opening of its first brick-and-mortar store at 738 Harden St. on Sunday, March 12.
The Turning Pointe | 1030 Harden St. | Previously located in Forest Acres for more than three decades, The Turning Pointe stocks a wide variety of dance supplies.
The Flying Biscuit Cafe | 936 Harden St. | Flying Biscuit was the first restaurant named for the new Treadwell development that coversnearly half of the 900 block of Harden Street, across from Food Lion.
Unis Boutique | 631 Harden St. | The women’s clothing boutique offers an array of clothing and accessories for a variety of fashion tastes.
Vivid: Color Cut Style salon | 910 Harden St. | Last October, the locally owned hair salon moved into the new space across the street from Chick-fil-A.

Riverbanks Zoo and Garden’s new Aquarium & Reptile Conservation Center

The reimagined attraction and educational facility gives guests an engaging experience and a chance to see wildlife conservation efforts first-hand.
The immersive experience provided by the new center will feature:
Conservation Labs: See hands-on work that was previously only experienced during behind-the-scenes tours.
Coral Lab: Get an up-close view of the critical role Riverbanks plays in protecting coral reefs. The lab showcases colonies of corals that were rescued off the coast of Florida near Key West.
Terrestrial Lab: Take a look at endangered reptiles and amphibians from around the globe and learn about Riverbanks’ work supporting populations of geckos, plus collaborative projects protecting SC’s most endangered wildlife.
Desert Biome:This new immersive habitat features desert dwellers like tortoises, rattlesnakes, and Gila monsters, as well as thick-billed parrots and burrowing owls.

In the coming weeks, guests will have a chance to meet a giant octopus named Susan (in honor of Susan Boyd and her favorite animal).

Southern Glazer’s Wine and Spirits, a major beverage distributor, is looking to purchase85 acres in the Saxe Gotha Industrial Park in Lexington County near the Amazon fulfillment center. Richland Library opened a new Fabrication Studio at its Main location, offering intermediate to advanced woodworkers access to a fully-equipped woodworking workshop. Before you turn on the saw, you must complete an orientation and be accompanied by a staff member. 🪚

The International Association of Golf Travel Operators (IAGTO) named South Carolina as one of the top five golf destinations in the world for 2023 along with Cyprus, Dubai, Los Cabos, and Thailand. In 2021, the golf industry had a $3.3 billion impact on SC’s economy + contributed 38,000 jobs. ⛳️

Gervais and Pickens street updates
1600 Gervais Street property sold to USC

The University of South Carolina Development Foundation purchased 1.3 acresat the corner of Gervais and Pickens streets, across from the recently renovated Home2 Suites.
This property is catty-corner to the W.B. Whaley House that’s been recently renovated and is the future site of Knowledge Perk Coffee and several upstairs apartments.
In 2019, the foundation purchased the former Christian Science Church with plans to renovate the space and house the university’s Children’s Law Center, conveniently across from USC’s law school.
According to The Post and Courier, Havens Framemakers and Gallery will move next door to the 1620 Gervais St. building and the building it is currently in will be demolished.
