Work is underway in two well-trafficked spaces in the downtown area. Crews are in the process of razing the former Constan Carwash and the ground has been cleared for the new Midtown at BullStreet development. Let’s take a quick look at what’s to come.
Constan Carwash’s iconic “Auto Wash” sign that’s greeted Gervais Street drivers since the 1970s will be removed and the building was torn down. While there are no plans for the property yet, a new carwash is currently under construction next door. The 1.88-acre site was purchased for $1.6 million and will be the new home of Time to Shine Car Wash.
The new Midtown at BullStreet development is located across from Segra Park and will consist of 18 two-bedroom townhouse units and 72 one-, two-, and three-bedroom garden-style units. Construction is soon to be underway, and no completion date has been announced.
Rudy Mancke inspired generations of South Carolinians to care about the environment and always shared fascinating details about the natural world around us. Today’s a great day to look back at the archived NatureScene episodes and tune into this podcast to learn something new.
