What is it?

Crash Course Columbia is a day-and-a-half program – offered quarterly – in which participants will hop between entertainment districts (in both Richland and Lexington County) and learn more about what our city has to offer, by way of:

Getting details on upcoming developments

Discovering key attractions

Exploring the history of our city

Learning where to find public art

Tasting top food + drink spots across the region

Many stops will include exclusive, behind-the-scenes experiences available only to program-goers.

Which Columbia hotspots will be highlighted?

The first half of the program will kick off with a happy hour event at Hotel Trundle , followed by dinner at Hendrix .

The next day, participants will begin with breakfast at smallSUGAR , then let their food settle while they get photos of Lincoln St. Tunnel and hear about development updates from The Vista . The day continues with tours of Riverbanks Zoo , City Roots , Segra Park (home to the Columbia Fireflies), BullStreet , Five Points , West Columbia + Historic Columbia – along with stops (and tastings) at River Rat Brewery and Hunter-Gatherer at the Hanger.

The day ends with happy hour at Black Rooster , and drop-in at Columbia Museum of Art and the option of attending Arts & Draughts .

Talk about the ideal Columbia 24-hour itinerary.

When does it take place?

March 12-13

May 14-15

August TBD

October TBD

How can I be part of it?

The goal of the program is to target those who are either new to the working world or new to Columbia and share a passion for Columbia, with hopes they’ll become champions for the region and develop a closer connection to the community.
