🌊Palmetto Falls Water Park

Location: 6511 Strom Thurmond Blvd., Fort Jackson

Features: Two water slides, Splashdown pool, lazy river

Hours: Wed.-Thurs.: 12-5 p.m., Fri.-Sat.: 11 a.m.-6 p.m. Sun.: 12-5 p.m.

Admission: $17 per person

🌊Waterfall Junction

Location: 500 Wildlife Pkwy.

Features: 25-foot cascading waterfall, splash zones, and a life-size replica of T-Rex

Hours: 9-5 p.m. (water turns off 15 minutes before close)

Admission: Included with admission to Riverbanks Zoo & Garden

🌊Sesquicentennial State Park

Location: 9564 Two Notch Rd.

Features: 8 to sunset

Hours: 9-5 p.m. (water turns off 15 minutes before close)

Admission: $6 adults, $3.75 SC seniors (age 65 and over), $3.50 children (ages 6-15)

🌊Orangeburg County YMCA

Location: 2550 St Matthews Rd. NE, Orangeburg

Features: Lazy river, two slides, a bowl slide with a plunge pool, and a zero-depth pool

Hours: Sat.: 11 a.m.-7 p.m.

Admission: $4 for those 47″ and under, $8 for those 48″ and over, free for YMCA members

Features: Olympic-size outdoor pool

Hours: Mon.-Thurs.: 1-6 p.m., Sat.: 10 a.m.-6 p.m., Sun.: 2-6 p.m.

Admission: $3 (ages 12 and under), $4 (ages 13 and over)

🏊Greenview Pool

Location: 6700 David Street

Features: Pool, waterslides, and a zero-depth splash pad.

Hours: Tues.-Fri.: 1-6 p.m., Sat: 10 a.m.-6 p.m., Sun.: 2-6 p.m.

Admission: $3 (ages 12 and under), $4 (ages 13 and over)

🏊Drew Wellness Center

Location: 2101 Walker Solomon Way

Features: Indoor pool with lap + recreational swimming

Hours: Mon.-Fri.: 5:30 a.m.-7 p.m., Sat.: 8 a.m.-5 p.m., Sun.: 2-5 p.m.

Admission: $6 for adults, $5 for seniors, $3 for youth

David is based in Columbia, SC where he’s lived since graduating from UofSC’s School of Journalism in 2006. In his 20+ years in the Soda City, he founded Scene SC, an outlet covering the SC music scene, and has contributed to local publications including SCETV, Jasper Magazine, Free Times, and The Post and Courier. He currently serves on boards for One Columbia for Arts and Culture and the Jam Room Music Festival.
