ICYMI, plans are in the works for a mixed-use development at the corner of Huger + Blossom St. in the Vista.

Sitting at one of the most high-traffic intersections in town – especially now, with UofSC students back on campus; upping Cola’s population by ~35,000 – the site was formerly Columbia Antique Mall and is currently being used as overflow parking for Park Place luxury apartment complex. (Can’t picture it? See a Google Street view here.)

Here’s a look at the space, by the numbers:

  • 5-6: The number of retail/restaurant spaces planned, with 1 potential drive-thru
  • 2,000-6,000: The range of square footage for each space
  • 20,000: Total square footage of retail space
  • 4,000-6,500: Square footage of the development’s anchor space, envisioned to be a restaurant with a potential rooftop bar

This is where you come in, reader. What restaurant do *you* think would be a good fit to anchor this space?

To help get you thinking, here’s what Trinity Partners broker Braden Shockley has to say:

“The intersection of Blossom and Huger has been transformed by student housing and multi-family development in recent years. This project will bring the intersection to a new level and is perfectly positioned for an establishment seeking a vibrant downtown corner with available on-site parking near multiple event venues to capture the attention of residents, students and visitors alike.”
