The Design

Last week, The COMET debuted their final trolley design (created by local marketing firm Chernoff Newman) – which could potentially be cruising the streets of Columbia in the next 6-8 months. First, it needs approval from The COMET Board of Directorsand, if approved, two of them would be purchased and placed on the Soda Cap Connector routes.

Back in April, The COMET asked for public opinion on which design they should go with (1- retro or 2- bubbles + a pink or white roof) before making the decision – allowing the community to vote on their favorite.

We also asked what y’all thought about it – and here’s what some of you said.👇

“Yes!! All for that.” – @bethany__simpson

“Cute but still a waste and doesn’t fix the real transportation issue buses don’t continously run often enough to be effective. I could walk to where I needed to be before a bus would even come back on route. SC could take notes from Euegene, OR system” – Zoey G.

“ok what these are so cute” – @oona.peacock

“Cool, but they operate at a heavy loss as is. Spending more money isn’t gonna change that.” – Derek B.

“#BringBackTheRails” – Colin G.
