Today is the first official day of tax season. Oh, joy. But you could discover a silver lining (er, more dollars lining your wallet) this year.

DYK that 70% of U.S. taxpayers qualify for free tax preparation, but don’t take advantage of the help?

If your household income level is $66K or below, you’re eligible to receive tax assistance via United Way + H&R Block’s My Free Taxes program. If you’re like us and pay a CPA for help on your taxes every Spring, listen up.

Here’s what help you qualify for based on your income:

💸 Household income <$66K | Do your taxes from your couch using your smartphone or computer with the help of My Free Taxes’ online service. Click here to access.

💸 Household income <$60K | If you earned $60K or less last year, the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program (a partnership between our local United Way of the Midlands + local nonprofit The Cooperative Ministry) offers free, in-person assistance at these 15+ Midlands locations. Bring these items with you (and don’t pull an Ilana).

Click here to read more about both options + to ensure you’re in the 60% of people who get their taxes done in the first few weeks of the year – not the 40% who wait until April.
