A summer reading list with local ties

Hey Cola, Lauren here. 👋 It’s safe to say summer has arrived in Cola. The consistently high temperatures + humidity levels have us ready for days spent by the pool, at the beach + on the porch with a good book in hand.

Lately, I’ve been reading The Secret Life of Bees (which is based in a small SC town) + I can’t get through it fast enough. And now, as I’m adding books to my “want to read” tab on the Goodreads app, I’m interested in finding more that have a local tie-in.

With a little digging, we’ve put together a list of 12 summer must-reads that were either written by South Carolina authors or take place in the state. If you want to add a little southern flair to your reading list, take a peek at the titles below. 📚
