Good morning Columbia, Miranda here. Living in Cola definitely has its perks – one of them being the most dreamy sunsets a person could wish for. I feel like I’m always chasing a colorful sunset – and truthfully Jason Aldean described the perfect sunset in his song “Fly Over States”: “with a windshield sunset in your eyes like a watercolor painted sky – you’d think heaven’s doors have opened.”

A few of my personal favorite sunset-watching spots around Cola include Williams-Brice stadium, Segra Park, Gervais St. (right in front of the State House), Devine St. (bonus: grab a glass of prosecco at Il Giorgione as you watch) + the top of the parking garage at Richland Fashion mall (on the corner of Beltline + Forest Dr.).

So, whether you’re planning a date night picnic at the park, a romantic photo shoot, or just wanting to admire nature’s beauty, check out the list below for the best spots around Columbia to catch the golden hour. 🌇

We asked our social media followers for their favorite spots – here’s what they said:

“You can crest the top of Rosewood Drive and find a place to park (or at the top of Whaley at Pickens. Very nice there and not too far to go.” – Clair D.

Lake Murray dam is one good spot. There are good spots at Dreher Island State Park, and ... my front porch ain’t half bad either. 😉” – Fran S.

“Definitely the dam!” – David D.
