At the end of 2018, we shared the 7 most anticipated openings + 7 new restaurants to try in Columbia in 2019– and while we’re checking those off the list and waiting on others to start service– more new businesses have opened... and many have closed.
We’re only two months into 2019 and we’ve already had to say goodbye to establishments that have been around for years (some for 20+). But ultimately, we are excited for what’s to come (while paying respect to those who have gone).

👠 Gwen Rawls | 4840 Forest Dr. Ste. #17
After seven years in business, Italian shoe store Gwen Rawls announced they were closing last week, and shut their doors for good on Thurs., Feb 28.
🍝 Rosso Italian Trattoria | 4840 Forest Dr. Ste. #7
The Italian restaurant announced via Facebook that they had closed their doors in Trenholm Plaza on Tue., Feb. 19. They are currently searching for a new location. Click here to share where you think they should move.
🍦 32 Degrees Yogurt Bar | 4840 Forest Dr. Ste. #19
After eight years in business, the Birmingham-based soft serve ice cream chain closed in late February.
🛒 Walmart Neighborhood Market store | 3603 Broad River Rd.
They announced the store’s last day of operation will be Fri., Mar. 29– due to financial issues at this particular location. (It will not affect other Walmart stores in the area.)
🌮 Tin Lizzy’s | 700 Gervais St.
According to their answering machine message, the Atlanta-based tex-mex restaurant in The Vista closed in late February. The chain still has one other S.C. location in GVL. No info on why they closed has been announced.

A nail salon with a focus on safe + clean beauty maintenance– including waxing + eyebrow services– opened Sat., Mar. 2.
🍍 A Taste of the South | 2222 Sumter St.
The gift basket retailer moved from their location on Bush River Rd. to Cottontown and opened for biz around Valentine’s Day.
🏋 Cottontown CrossFit | 2204 Sumter St.
A new CrossFit location opened in Cottontown in late February– which means you might be able to flip some tires over closer to home.
🍰 Lita’s Treats | 460 Killian Rd.
The gourmet cupcake shop– whose original location is in Dutch Square Mall– opened a second shop in NE Cola on Sat., Feb. 9. Check out their list of 25+ flavors.
🍑The Favored Life | 716 Santee Ave. in Five Points
The small-batch kombucha shop opened on Sat., Feb. 9– serving flavors, like peach mango + elderberry, in everything from a 4 oz. shot to take-home growlers.
🍕Stoner’s Pizza | 1216 Washington St.
The Georgia-based pizza chain located inside Main St.’s Arcade Building opened on Jan. 14– serving pizza, wings, calzones + more.
🍔 Fall Line Bar & Grill | 741 Saluda Ave.
The American bar opened in the former-Delaney’s location on Valentine’s Day– with 30+ beers on tap, trivia nights, and a menu feat. burgers, tacos + more.
🎯 Craft Axe Throwing | 700 Gervais St.
It’s the axe-plosive trend hitting major downtown districts across the nation: an axe-throwing bar. The Vista’s location opened on Jan. 31.
🌱 Infusion 420 | 620 Gervais St.
The all-natural wellness store opened on Jan. 24 in The Vista– with CBD-infused products that are known to help with pain relief, sleeplessness, anxiety + more.
