Feeding America the nation’s largest hunger-relief organization – has announced the Veterans Pantry Pilot (VPP), a program that will provide food assistance for veterans around the nation, in partnership with the Department of Veteran Affairs. After realizing 20% of the households they feed have a veteran in their family, they felt VPP was a necessity.

Feeding America currently has a network of 200 food banks + 60,000 food pantry/meal programs that feed 46 million people each year.

Since the start of VPP, 151,453 pounds of food have been served to 3,000+ veteran households and 5,700 individuals, with the help of local food banks + VA medical centers.

Columbia is one of VPP’s 10 active sites, thanks to partnerships with Harvest Hope Food Bank + William Jennings Bryan Dorn VA Medical Center. The plan to have additional sites on board by the end of the year.
