Alright Gamecock football fans, this newsletter is for you. We’re officially three days away from kickoff of the 2020 season. And while it may be a little different than last year, I think we’re all pretty excited to see what the season brings. 🐔

Due to the coronavirus, the school has had to make some adjustments to gameday to make the experience safe for everyone involved. We’ve broken down what gameday in Columbia will look like this year so you can wave rally towels to Sandstorm with confidence.

Check out the full 2020 season schedule here.

Before the game

  • UofSC-owned parking lots will open two and a half hours before kickoff + will discourage tailgating. They will close 90 minutes after the game ends and tents will not be allowed. Crowds will be asked to disperse.
  • Gameday shuttles will only be available for students with a Carolina Card.
  • Gamecock walk will not take place during the 2020 season.
  • If you’re looking for pre-game activities for Saturday, check out a list of tailgating and watch party options below.

During the game

  • Williams-Brice will follow a reduced seating capacity plan this fall, which will allow for approx. 20,000 fans to attend.
  • Students will be allowed to attend one home game this season.
  • All guests will be required to wear a face mask (over the nose and mouth) inside the stadium. Face shields will not be considered acceptable.
  • If you make it into Williams-Brice this season, you’ll probably notice some upgrades to the stadium. UofSC spent approx. $22.5 million to add additional premium seating, including the 2001 Club, Traditions Club, Cockaboose Club + Horseshoe Club.
  • While you’ll still see Cocky cheering on the Gamecocks in Williams-Brice, Sir Big Spur, the school’s live mascot, will not be around this year following the SEC’s ban of live mascots for the season.
  • Bands (and other field presentations, recognitions and performances) will not be allowed to perform on the field before the game or during halftime.
