Macado's

Residents of neighborhoods surrounding Five Points are less than stoked about the proposed chain-restaurant coming to their neighborhood. There has been talk of the Blossom St. location that once housed Master Cleaners becoming a Macado’s – a restaurant + bar reportedly popular with the college crowd thanks to its menu of burger, wings, shots + hurricanes.

While plans have not yet been finalized, an architect tied to Macado’s has asked the City to rezone a parcel of land on Blossom St. + to use the area behind a Saluda Ave. duplex as a parking lot. Columbia’s Planning Commission + City Council will both have to vote in favor of the project in order to for construction to begin.

The city released two letters of opposition from local neighbors and granted the Wales Garden Neighborhood Association more time to study the proposal.
