Mayor’s Minute: City Serve

Hey, Columbia – we’ve got a special announcement. To help unite organizations and volunteers of all ages + backgrounds, we’re launching City Serve this October.

What’s City Serve? A month-long collaborative effort that builds upon our rich tradition of community service and leadership to help those in need within five core areas: 1️⃣ Health, 2️⃣ Hunger, 3️⃣ Home Improvement, 4️⃣ Beautification and 5️⃣ Education.

How does it work? Non-profits, government entities, neighborhood associations + faith-based organizations can submit projects for the month, then once they’re greenlighted ➡ residents (like you) can volunteer at those sites.

Know an organization that’d like to submit a project for City Serve? Fill out the online form or email cityserve@columbiasc.net for more information. (Project examples: donation drives, neighborhoods cleanups, reading with kids.) Project submissions are due by Aug. 31.

We’re looking forward to an incredible month of service! Yours truly,

My heart is with all the people in Houston, as well as all the helpless pets being affected.

A national collaborative effort between the Humane Society of the U.S., Wings of Rescue, American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, GreaterGood.org + other organizations is helping rescue all the homeless cats + dogs in flooded Houston shelters and fly them to shelters in other parts of the U.S. 🐶 🐱

The Humane Society of the U.S. + Wings of Rescue are accepting donations to help fund this effort.
