North Main St. is getting a 70-acre multi-use development with retail, housing + business tenants – named Azurest on Heritage Creek (can someone explain the meaning behind this, please?). To put that size into perspective, the CanalSide apartment complex is only 20 acres.

The project will start small and grow to meet customer demand, catering the space to what North Main needs. Proposed tenants include a small school, boutiques, a grocery/hardware co-op, a 100-room hotel, up to 95 townhomes + more.

The planning process may take up to a year with construction starting after that. The price tag for the project is TBA.

Private developer WAT Properties is steering the massive project + wants to make NoMa a “destination.” City leaders hope the project acts as a jumpstart for economic development in North Cola.
