Renewing Riverfront Park

Do Good Columbia

The renovation of Riverfront Park’s Amphitheater will be planned for the city’s people + by the city’s people thanks to Do Good Columbia (a.k.a. a two-day community problem-solving workshop led by Richland Library that took place this past weekend).

13 groups of 104 total participants (which were carefully selected from a pool of applicants) used human-centered design to develop + present their ideas to a panel of judges.

The winning group has received $50,000 in funding to implement their ideas in the renovation of the amphitheater. Here are some of the key features of their proposal that will be incorporated in the new + improved amphitheater:

✔ Green terrace

✔ Boardwalk

✔ Catering kitchen

✔ Concert stage

✔ Bikes for rent

✔ Permanent easels

✔ Children’s playground

✔ Improved bathrooms, walkways, lighting + signage

(Personally, we’re super excited to see how this project pans out – stay tuned for more details as the implementation begins.) Richland Library will hold another Do Good Columbia workshop with a new project theme in 2018.
