The new year has barely begun, but we’re already looking ahead to 12 events that will shape our state in 2018. Here’s what will impact South Carolinians in next 12 months:

🌴 The aftermath of the failed V.C. Summer nuclear project shutdown | Will S.C. ratepayers be reimbursed for any of the $2 billion they paid to finance the nuclear project?

🌴 Another Gamecock Women’s Basketball Natty? | Led by senior A’ja Wilson, the ‘Cocks have another shot at making it to the National Championship game this season.

🌴 A gubernatorial election | Gov. McMaster fell into his current role as S.C.’s governor after Nikki Haley was promoted in 2017, but in 2018, he must win his own election to keep the role.

🌴 Plants on plants on plants | Not the green ones that grow in dirt – but Samsung, Jushi USA + Volvo manufacturing plants are all expected to open before the year’s end.

🌴 UofSC’s expansion project | The university plans to break ground this year on one of their largest construction projects to date – the $460 million, 3,750 bed Campus Village.

Read all 12 events.
