On Wednesday, Gov. Henry McMaster, in conjunction with the director of the Dept. of Alcohol and Other Drug Abuse Services, announced their plans to beat the opioid epidemic in S.C. with a new educational campaign, “Just Plain Killers,” with a website + commercials (airing statewide at the end of the month).

McMaster also gave more details of the $10 million he proposed for fighting opioid issues in his 2018-19 budget (still in the approval phase) – which includes $4.35 million for building opioid treatment facilities around the state + $1 million toward prescription drug monitoring.
