It’s a sign of the times

WECO Sign removal

On Tuesday morning, local sign company Flagship Signs removed the WECO sign (along with the pool balls) to be refurbished. For the next six to eight weeks expect to see a temporary sign that reads “I’ll be back.”

Sparks flew as the crew removed the rusted bolts with a torch shortly before it was lifted off by a crane. A small crowd gathered to watch and held their collective breath as the sign slowly made its way to the ground.

Once repairs are complete, Riggs Partners and the City of West Columbia will host a ceremony + light up the new sign featuring new LED lights, updated verbiage, and a polished new look.
