It’s (finally) time to turnip on the farm, ya’ll. The Midlands Farm Tour – a drive-yourself farm-hop of 10 local, sustainable farms (which was postponed due to Irma) – has been rescheduled to next Saturday, September 23, 11 a.m.-6 p.m.

The farms will give visitors tours + demonstrations on sustainable agriculture, farm stewardship + animal care – plus cute animals and fresh produce. Here are a couple of farms on our agenda:

🌰 Meador Acres Chestnuts | Pelion | One of the few farms in the South that grows organic Chinese chestnuts

🐓 Cedar Knoll | Blythewood | Uses the 360-method of composting – so all scraps + chicken waste go back into the soil

🍷 Mercer House Estate Winery | Lexington | Home to bloody mary wines + five-spiced coffee

🌽 Carolina Bay Farm | Richland | Located near a “Carolina bay,” a.k.a. a hole in the ground that has collected water for hundreds of years – forming a lush farming environment for cattle, poultry, produce + more

See more farms on the tour.

Tickets are $15 for adults; $10 for first responders, military, and students with ID; and free for kids under 10, seniors with Senior Vouchers and WIC/SNAP/EBT beneficiaries.
