People think April through August is real estate’s “selling season,” which can be true in many cases, like when families with school-aged children look to move over the summer. But you can still get a great deal on a home during other months of the year. If you’re ready now, don’t buy into the whole “wait for Spring” myth – you could be passing up on an opportunity to purchase with some serious perks.

Here are 10 reasons to consider buying during the fall + winter seasons, explained by The ART of Real Estate:

  1. Less competition

For the past two to three years it’s been a strong seller’s market, meaning there are more buyers than sellers. Read: Buyers running around like crazy looking at homes as soon as they hit the market + making quick offers to compete with the 10 other buyers who want the house, too. In the Fall + Winter, homes take a little bit longer to sell, thus giving you a little more breathing room to make a calculated and conscious decision.

  1. Sellers are serious

The sellers who are out to “test the market” with inflated prices tend to pull their homes off the market in August. So the sellers who are still in the market outside of the aforementioned “selling season” really want to sell. They’ll probably be open to negotiations on an offer price.
