This is part of our #COLAtownFoodie series featuring what @ColaTownFoodie (and her date) ate at local restaurants – plus, her recommendations + pro tips.

My dish: After a stroll through Soda City, Mr. ColaTown Foodie and ColaTown Foodie Baby wheeled the stroller into The GRAND on Main to check out their weekend brunch menu. I ordered the Hot Mess (AKA Chilaquiles). These corn tortillas are cooked in a spicy jalepeno salsa with pulled chicken, queso, topped with a fried egg and served with sliced avocado and sour cream. Add a side of grits and you’ll shout “Ole’, y’all!” $15

Runner-up: Earlier in the week, I’d visited The GRAND on opening day and ordered the Shrimp BLT with waffle fries. It was so delicious – I almost ordered it again! This sammie of grilled shrimp, fontina cheese, bacon, lettuce, tomato, and garlic aioli on sourdough bread is $13.

What my date ate: Mr. ColaTown Foodie enjoyed the Bacon Lover’s Brunch because who doesn’t love a plate full of cheddar biscuits, bacon gravy, home fries, thick-cut bacon and eggs. $14
