All right Soda Citizens, Father’s Day is this Sunday – have you decided on how you’re going to shine the light on your dad this year? From teaching us how to ride our bikes and drive our cars, to helping us with math homework + being a call away in adulthood when something’s broken, our dads deserve some appreciation.

If your dad is local and looking to get out of the house this year to celebrate, check out these 10 local activities to do with your dad (that’ll make his day + memories he’ll enjoy for years to come).

For the competitive dad 🪓

If your dad has a competitive side, sling axes together at Craft Axe Throwing and keep score (it may be harder than he thinks). Bonus: the Lexington location just opened their doors. ($20 an hour)

For the high-energy dad 🤾

If your dad needs to let out some energy, take him to bounce around the new Summit Adventure Park in Cayce. ($14.75+)

For the hoppin’ dad 🍺

Spend the day sipping on one or two of dad’s favorite local brews at Steel Hands or Cottontown Brew Lab. (prices vary)

For the artsy dad 🎨

Explore the current exhibits at the Columbia Museum of Art including TRIBE: A Celebration of South Carolina Hip Hop Culture. (free admission through June 25)

For the gamer dad 🎮

Let your dad relive the old days and feel like a kid again at the newly-opened Transmission Arcade. ($100 for 2 hours)

For the wild dad 🦁

If your dad has a bit of a wild side, take a trip to Riverbanks Zoo + make a stop by the giraffe habitat to help feed the friendly giants. ($19.95)

For the adventurous dad 🛶

Take dad to paddle or float down the river + soak in the summer heat with a kayak or tube rental from Palmetto Outdoor Center. (~$15-50)

For the thrill-seeking dad 🔒

Get the family together and test your problem-solving skills at a local escape room. We hear Escapology, The Final Door + Escape Plan are now open and offering private parties. (prices vary)

For the pin-splitting dad 🎳

If bowling is up dad’s alley, make a reservation at The Grand on Main and bowl in style with bar service at the lane. ($40 per lane)

For the hungry dad 🍔

If mealtimes are your dad’s favorite times of the day, take him to a local grub spot to enjoy his favorite kinds of food. We’ve heard these restaurants will be open:

Beef O’ Brady’s | 4561 Hard Scrabble Rd. | Dads receive a free meal

Good Life Cafe | 1614 Main St.

Loosh Culinaire | 2030 Gregg St., Suite A | Offering curbside pickup

Main Course | 1624 Main St.
