If Soda City is known for anything, we’re probably best known for our love and support of small businesses.

Over the last three years, we’ve had the privilege and honor of conversing with you on this topic multiple times – from getting deep into our feelings about which businesses we’d cry over if closed to celebrating the oldest staples in our community to shouting out all the products unique to our city.

While many of us may be currently practicing safe social distancing, we know this can have an impact on our local economy and our mom + pop shops.

We recently asked you on Facebook, Instagram + Twitter for some of the ways we could continue to show our support locally during the Coronavirus (COVID-19) and here’s what some of you had to say. ⬇️

  • Local musicians are having gigs canceled. Support them by streaming their music on Spotify, Amazon Music, Apple etc.” – Gregg D.
  • “I love this. It’s so important to support our local businesses and artists right now. So many of the @sodacitysc vendors have Etsy shops, like @hippy_do_da_creations_ [etsy.com/shop/hippydodacreations/]. Even if you aren’t out and about in the community, there are still ways to support and show our love!” – @mkkorpita
  • “Call or visit your favorite small businesses - cafe/shop/market/whatever - and buy their gift cards for future use. Or offer to establish a credit account for the same purpose of helping them weather this slump.” – @DoddsVic
  • “CCCF has created and activated a Disaster Fund to provide assistance to nonprofits in our 11-county service area whose capacity is impacted by the COVID-19 outbreak. We’re also waiving fees at midlandsgives.org where people can donate to 400+ local nonprofit organizations.” – @cccfpics
  • “The peanut man will be having take n bake meals and ready to eat meals to go as well. Call in and we will deliver to your car curbside! Please pray for our nation. #supportsmallbusiness #buylocal” – @peanutlady1
  • “You can book stretch sessions and private yoga/mindfulness online 🤗 with me.” – @shannonwatson825
  • Like or reblog local businesses social posts. It’s free and helps them gain SO much more exposure” – @safeharborinsuranceadvisors
  • “Primal Gourmet has opened our Homebound Meal Delivery program to anyone! Follow us for more info. And as always our Chefs Choice meal packs are available online for weekly availability, with many pickup locations around town! #fresh #clean #LocalAF” – @primalgourmetsc
  • “I’m a local writer with two books you can buy online (my website, Amazon, or B&N). I also do poetry commissions.” – @ashsappley

Do you know of other ways we can support small business owners and employees? Or restaurants that are prioritizing health with special measures? Let us know by joining the conversation on Facebook, Instagram + Twitter.
