Home Team BBQ opens today at 11 a.m. The announcement came Friday morning, and we’ve got everything you need to know before you meat them for the first time.

The Five Points location (700 Harden St., in the former Harper’s building) is the fifth location for the award-winning Charleston-based barbecue restaurant; three are in the Lowcountry (downtown Charleston, West Ashley + Sullivan’s Island) and another in Aspen, Colorado.

But this isn’t your “typical” southern bbq. Their team has perfected pairing fine dining with slow-cooked meats + comfort food – and it’s been noticed by national publications. 👇

🍗 Home Team’s Columbia menu is very similar to all their other menus – featuring multi-regional barbecue (i.e. all the different sauces) creative sides, salads, tacos, chef-driven daily specials (highlighting local ingredients + trending flavors), a late-night snack menu + more.

🍹 And let’s not forget about their ever-changing bar program. They have an expansive Whiskey collection, frozen cocktails (the Gamechanger is an actual game changer), regional and local craft beers (including their signature ‘Nose to Ale’ Golden Ale brewed in conjunction with Charleston’s Palmetto Brewing Co.) and more.

🎨 The inside of the restaurant features an 8x9-ft. mural of Barnwell native and “Godfather of Soul” James Brown hand-painted by Charleston artist Sean Williams. But don’t worry, Columbia artist Blue Sky’s mural on the outside of the building remained untouched.

🖼 The inside (which holds ~240 guests) also has several TVs and both low- and high-top bars. Framed music, sports memorabilia + photos of Home Team memories hang on the interior walls and the restrooms are covered with pages from historical barbecue books.
