Lexington Medical Center ranks No. 2 hospital in South Carolina by U.S. News

4,500 hospitals later, Lexington Medical Center ranks in the top.

The 2022-23 US News & World Report Best Hospital rankings are out and, of the 4,500 US hospitals evaluated across 15 specialties and 20 procedures, Lexington Medical Center has been ranked No. 2 in South Carolinaand is the only hospital in the Midlands to be recognized.

The hospital was also rated as “high performing” in treating these 11 procedures and conditions:

  • Abdominal aortic aneurysm repair
  • Back surgery (spinal fusion)
  • Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD)
  • Colon cancer surgery
  • Diabetes
  • Heart attack
  • Heart bypass surgery
  • Heart failure
  • Hip fracture
  • Kidney failure
  • Stroke

The aim of the annual rankings is to aid patients in making informed decisions about where they receive care for challenging health conditions or elective procedures. Of the 89 South Carolina hospitals evaluated, only eight met the standards needed to earn a ranking.
