After the UofSC v. Kentucky football game, a video was posted to Facebook + went viral, sparking a conversation about accessibilityspecifically wheelchair accessibility at Williams-Brice stadium for those with disabilities.

Wheelchair-accessible seating in Willy-B (built in 1934) is not necessarily limited, but more-so concentrated. Most of these seats are clustered in specific areas; the majority are in the south side end zone. This segregation of seating limits disabled fans + their family/friends to only a few sightlines + ticket price points.

To address similar concerns nationwide, the American’s with Disabilities Act was revised in 2010. But these updated rules only apply to new construction, meaning legally Williams Brice (which was last renovated in 1996 + included more wheelchair-accessible seating) meets the proper standards – even if it’s not the best of options.

Gamecock Athletics Director Ray Tanner says he’s “open to making changes… and will fully address any concerns.”
