Midlands Regional Competitiveness Week

EngenuitySC (local nonprofit focused on making the Midlands a more competitive + better place to live, work + play) will host its inaugural Midlands Regional Competitiveness Week throughout Jan. 29-Feb 2.

At the end of the week, they’ll release this year’s Midlands Regional Competitiveness Report. Pro tip: Look out for some cool COLAtoday insight into the report from movers + shakers like Meghan Hickman (EngenuitySC) and Lou Kennedy (Nephron Pharmaceuticals). 🙌

Here are some highlights from the week-long event:

  • Midlands Cultural Plan Kick-Off | Jan. 29, 2 p.m. | Township Auditorium | presented by One Columbia for Arts and History | free | discuss current arts + culture trends and the growth of our local creative community; plus ways to increase access to the arts 🎨 🎭
  • iTs|SC: Columbia’s New Vision for Insurance Tech | Jan. 31, 8:45-10 p.m. | IT-ology | presented by iTs|SC, Columbia’s Insurance Technology and Services Cluster | free to register | a panel with top-level leaders to discuss visions on the future of the insurance tech industry 👨‍💻
  • What’s Next Midlands Voting Event | Feb. 1, 5:30-7:30 p.m. | SOCO Vista | presented by EngenuitySC’s What’s Next Midlands initiative | celebrate the last three years of WNM milestones + learn about their new era of programming (free drinks + apps 😎)
  • Managing Gender Bias: A Workshop for HR Professionals | Feb. 2, 12-3 p.m. | Richland Library Main Branch | sponsored by the Knight Foundation, Central Carolina Community Foundation + Richland Library | workshop dedicated to professional growth of all employees without gender discrimination (more reasons to believe Cola is an awesomely diverse place to live + work 👌)
