Itā€™s almost time for Palmetto Health Foundationā€™s Walk for Life and Famously Hot Pink Half Marathon, 5K + 10K, and our team is already prepping to make sure weā€™re stretched, dressed and ready to rock our walk ā€“ yeah, weā€™re not runningā€¦ this year. Hereā€™s how to maximize your fun race day on October 14:

  1. Plan your outfit. šŸ‘š Pink is the color of the day, so DIY the ultimate athleisure outfit with some pink shorts or leggings, your race t-shirt, your favorite hat, and some neon pink socks + accessories. We bought a Spirit Pack from Palmetto Health Foundation just for the race ā€“ theyā€™re $25 and include a pink tutu, pink boa, sparkly shades, a breast cancer ribbon temporary tat + more.
  1. Pack your bag. šŸŒ We keep hearing everyone participating makes a whole morning of it ā€“ that means you could be there from 6 a.m. ā€˜til 11 a.m. Prevent hangriness + be prepared. Weā€™re packing some Kashi breakfast bars, extra bottles of water, some Southern Squeezed almond milk, some spare cash, ear buds and Band-Aids (just in case). After the race, participants can grab complimentary bananas + granola bars at the food tent in the park.
  1. Stock your playlist. šŸŽ§ Weā€™ll probably chat (i.e. Instagram story) while we stroll, but if you want to pick up the pace or do your own thing, make sure you have a sweet playlist to keep your blood pumping. On Spotify, we recommend pre-made playlists All The Feels (R&B/rap), Young, Wild & Free (dance/pop/hip-hop) and Williamsburg Brunch (pop/alternative).
  1. Plan your pregame + afterparty. šŸŗ Fire up the group chat now and decide where to meet for an early breakfast beforehand, or where to celebrate crossing the finish line afterward. Despite our inbox delivery time, we are not morning people ā€“ so weā€™re planning a post-race celebration brewery hop from Swamp Cabbage to Conquest to River Rat. Meet you there.
  1. Prep your body. šŸ„— Take this to mean whatever you want ā€“ anything from starting your couch-to-5K training now (well, maybe you shouldā€™ve started last month, but no judgement here) to just making sure you donā€™t overdo the pizza + beer the night before. Weā€™re planning on (semi-)clean eating the few days before (shoutout to Rosewood Marketā€™s grain bowls), drinking tons of water and stretching before the big day.

If you havenā€™t registered yet, you still can here. See yā€™all at Spirit Communications Park next Saturday. šŸ’Ŗ
