With the first day of Spring officially under our belt, the next order of business is right around the corner – Tax Day, 2019. Monday, April 15 is coming up in just over three weeks, and we’ve had Soda Citizens ask us all types of questions regarding tax prep.

Here’s where to start:

  • You’ll need your Wage and Tax Statement (aka W-2 form) from every employer you had in 2018 (these should have been mailed to you by the end of January).
  • Freelancers + independent contractors – instead of a W-2 form, you should have received 1099 forms.
  • Be sure to have your social security card + driver’s license, and one back-up ID on hand.
  • Have records of tax deductions you plan to itemize (investments, real estate records, student loan interest, etc.).

We’ve found a few free resources, but ultimately we want to know (on behalf of our readers)where do you get your taxes done?
