Lou Kennedy, CEO of Nephron Pharmaceuticals, is determined to make the Midlands a lifestyle destination by increasing the ability the attract + retain top talent. In collaboration with Haynsworth Sinkler Boyd shareholder Bill Boyd, the pair will lead a committee of the Midlands Business Leadership Group (MBLG) and are tasked with increasing local job offerings + quality of life.

With help from over 100 community leaders + 40 top executives, the committee has identified 7 areas of focus for 2018. Their action plan aims to better connect Richland + Lexington chambers of commerce, complete the Riverfront project, encourage entrepreneurship and bring more diverse + younger voices into leadership positions.

According to Kennedy, the conversation on improving the Midlands always focuses on economic development, but needs to concentrate more on making the area an attractive + vibrant place where people would want to live + work.
