Beyond the books

Did you know you can borrow a metal detector kit from the Richland Library?

Beyond just books, Richland Library offers a world of entertainment and resources to explore a new passion or even find a new job.

Let’s start with the basics. Step one, get a Richland County Library card (don’t worry, if you’re not a Richland County resident, you have options too). Step two, dive into the digital and physical world Richland Library has to offer.

Here are a few resources you may not know about:

Stream + Download

  • Access 10 movies per month on Kanopy, a streaming platform that hosts ~30,000 titles.
  • The Hoopla app offers access to other movies, music, audiobooks, ebooks, comics and TV shows to enjoy on your computer, tablet, or phone.

Makerspace

  • Interested in learning about woodworking or 3D printers? The Makerspace is available to work independently after training, or take a guided class.

Library of things

  • Need a karaoke or bubble machine for an upcoming party? Or maybe an Electric Tiller + Cultivator to get your Spring garden started? Those are just a few of the many items the library has to offer as part of its Library of Things, an extension of the Makerspace.

Seed Library

  • Speaking of your garden, the library offers seeds to get you started. Choose your seeds, grow your plants, gather + dry the seeds you can identify from your garden, and return them to the library.

Artist in Residence

The library’s residency program works to connect the community directly with local working artists, entrepreneurs + writers. The newest Artist in Residence is Mary How — Artist, Board-Certified Art Therapist and Emotional Wellness Coach.
