Hey Cola, Lauren here. Anyone else feeling bummed their summer travel plans have been put on hold? 🙋‍♀️ Lately, I’ve been trying to come up with creative, safe ways to explore this summer since I won’t be planning any big trips for a while.

If you’re like me and want to get out, but also want to stay mindful of current health guidelines, check this out. 👉 The Ultimate Outsider program, hosted by South Carolina State Parks, encourages you to get out and explore our state (and all of its natural beauty) + even includes a little incentive.

○ The goal: visit all 47 state parks.

○ The incentive: a free “Ultimate Outsider” t-shirt (because you can never have too many t-shirts).

○ How it works: Grab an Official Guide to SC State Parks – which you can order online or pick up at any state park – and collect a stamp at each park you visit. At the final park, have your guide verified by a park ranger and you’ll receive the t-shirt in the mail.

○ The bonus: Ultimate Outsiders get invited to participate in special events that aren’t open to the public.

If this sounds like your type of adventure, take a peek at this park finder to plan your next state park trip + where to start your Ultimate Outsider journey. I think my next visit will be Hunting Island State Park to check out the views from the top of the lighthouse.

Already achieved Ultimate Outsider status? We hear there’s an exclusive scavenger hunt going on that’ll lead you to “secrets” within the state parks.

Disclaimer: While all state parks are now open, group facilities remain closed, number of visitors are limited + some parks have reduced hours. We encourage you to check the parks’ website before making the trip.
