West Columbia’s Food Map

Pave paradise?

You may have seen it traveling all over social media the last couple days, but local developer and West Columbia cheerleader Joe Taylor (who’s also the former S.C. Secretary of Commerce) created a Food Map of West Cola – then had it designed by Mike Daikubara (an industrial designer, author and urban sketcher from Charlotte).

The 18x24-inch, full-color folded map gives a culinary tour of the city – featuring 57 locally owned restaurants (and some non-food popular stops, too). Check it out. 👇

Stops include staples like Cafe Strudel, Mai Thai, Terra + Zestos, as well as newcomers like Black Rooster + WeCo Bottle & Biergarten, and coming soon Palate (in the former 116 Espresso & Wine Bar space) and Savage Craft Ale Works.

5,000 copies of the map have been printed and are available at the West Columbia City Hall (200 12th St.) and other locations around the city. Or you can send a self-addressed stamped envelope to WC Food Map, 146 State St., West Columbia, SC 29169.

“This is a way to support the many mom and pop small businesses who are the backbone of the community. The strength of these locally owned restaurants shows what can happen when you have a business friendly local government.” – Joe Taylor
