Tackling the US 1 Metro Flea Market.

Have you dared to venture behind these castle walls in West Cola? The fortress is home to the US 1 Metro Flea Market, 3500 Augusta Rd., where you can hunt for discounted goods each Wednesday (6 a.m.-5 p.m.), Saturday (6 a.m.-5 p.m.) + Sunday (8 a.m.-5 p.m.).

Last Saturday, I embarked on a quest to find the best flea market deals. Side note: This ain’t no Soda City – don’t expect gourmet food trucks, local art + artisan jewelry-makers. It’s much less organized and pretty much made for hardcore bargain hunters. If you’re not afraid to do some intense digging + haggling – this is your place.

My advice? Don’t go just to browse – but do go for specific items like discounted tools, home appliances, gently-used shoes in good condition, and secondhand children’s items, like joggers + Pack ‘N Plays.

The market is partially inside of the castle-shaped warehouse (where you can find furniture + appliances), but most vendors set up their tables outside in the massive dirt lot – both out in the open + under multiple picnic sheds. Pro tip: Wear closed-toe shoes – the ground can get a little dirty.
