BullStreet Park – 20-acres of redeveloped green space slated to become Columbia’s 7th largest city park (#1 is the 140-acre Riverfront Park) – will be finished by late Summer or Fall 2018, according to the project’s architect.

Phase One of BullStreet Park will be completed first, containing a 2-acre pond + 4-acre green space that can be used for things like walking, picnicking or frisbee. Smith Branch creek (currently running through underground pipes) will be brought to surface – turning the old pipes into a flood control system. This phase will cost ~$1 million + will help determine next phases.

Future phases could contain a dog park, event space, a playground + public art. A price to complete these additions is TBD, but all costs will be part of the $32 million initial commitment by the City of Columbia (funded by taxpayers). Eventually, BullStreet Park will become part of the Three Rivers Greenway + connect to NoMa.

Alongside the $37 million Spirit Communications Park, BullStreet Park will be a centerpiece for the 181-acre project on the former S.C. State Hospital campus – the biggest land deal in Columbia’s history.
