Two downtown parking garages – the Taylor Street Garage (Taylor x Assembly, near Grapes & Gallery + Oliver Gospel) + the Cannon Garage (Sumter x Taylor, across from Metropolis + Palmetto Health) – will soon be home to two new murals.

The Cannon Garage mural is a $6,000 project to be paid for by the City of Columbia and painted by UofSC student Alex Rusnak, depicting S.C.’s motto “Dum Spiro Spero,” or “While I Breathe, I Hope.”

The Taylor Street Garage mural, a $4,000 project paid for by One Columbia, will be designed by Latino artists as part of this year’s Indie Grits Festival, “Visiones” (April 20-23), displaying bright patterns + religious motifs found in Latin culture.
