For the past 13 years, EngenuitySC, a Cola-based nonprofit, has brought together private companies + public organizations to implement initiatives focused on economic development. This year, the org’s programs are focused on enhancing the Midland’s long-term competitiveness (i.e. the quality of S.C.’s livability + business opportunity).

💡 Competitiveness Week | In early 2018, this new initiative will highlight the annual Midlands Regional Competitiveness Report, which ranks the Midlands against comparable areas in five major categories: talent, entrepreneurship, innovation, industry clusters + livability.

💡 Ignite! | The annual “Shark Tank”-style gala (previously a one-night event) will be replaced with multiple networking events to bring local movers + shakers together.

💡 What’s Next Midlands | This “social innovation initiative” is to thank for the new bistro tables + recycling bins on Main St. This year, it will unveil the Congaree River Southern Lights display + begin its 5th project: bicycle repair stations.

💡 Midlands Business Leadership Group (MLBG) | EngenuitySC’s partnership with MLBG works to meet the goals outlined in the Regional Competitiveness Report. Projects are centered around 5 focus points: talent, entrepreneurship, innovation, industry clusters + livability. Movers and shakers like Lou Kennedy, CEO of Nephron Pharmaceuticals, are part of this.

💡 Midlands Mayors Group | Managed by EngenuitySC, this is a collective gathering of 26 area mayors + political leaders. The panel will meet twice a month over the next year to collaborate on statewide + regional issues.
