Hip-hop female duo Salt-N-Pepa were announced as the headliner for Famously Hot New Year, taking place December 31 in downtown Columbia.

Cheryl “Salt” James and Sandra “Pepa” Denton – who have been performing together since the 80s – were the first female rap act to receive a Grammy + attain platinum status. Don’t think you’re familiar with their hit songs? Listen to these. 👇

And if you still don’t know what we’re talking about, we guarantee your parents do. The duo is known to be revolutionaries of rap – who broke barriers in empowering women and influenced millions with their music, selling more than 12 million albums over the last three decades.

Salt-N-Pepa will be accompanied by Charleston locals The High Divers and Columbia’s own Cottontown Soul Society.

Famously Hot New Year is S.C.’s largest, free New Year’s Eve celebration featuring a midnight countdown, the biggest NYE fireworks display in the state, food, drinks + more.
